If you find yourself in the Lake Charles area, you absolutely have to check out this place! We shared a large Darrell's Special, which is their standout sandwich. It's packed with ham, turkey, and roast beef, all smothered in delicious roast beef gravy and served on a warm, freshly baked bun. We went all out and added jalapeno mayonnaise, lettuce, and three types of cheese--American, Swiss, and Provolone. The atmosphere at the bar was great, and we really enjoyed the fantastic service!

Don't sleep on the bbq beef - it has become my favorite poboy there. I add a layer of Zapps jalepeno chips and the combination is incredible.

This was our second time stopping en route from Houston to MS. Great poboys!! Very nice friendly service. Good good! We have had the roast beef poboy with gravy on the side and the surf and turf. Great!! We ordered the large for $2 more & took 1/2 with us for dinner. We will continue to be return customers. Quick service, doesn't take time from your trip. It's off the Loop in Lake Charles so not out of the way stall.

Went yesterday with my SO and friend. I got the surf and turf and my husband got the special po boy. Friend also got the surf and turf sans mustard. I actually preferred the special. It had ham, turkey, and roast beef with cheese and it was so savory without being too salty. We didn't necessarily want chips but because everything is so texturally soft, the chips were definitely needed. Be aware that the surf and turf is juicy and has lots of liquid so it will be messy. Somehow though the sandwhich still stayed together. The shrimp part of the sandwhich was my least favorite as they are tiny shrimp so not much texture vs if they used fewer bigger shrimps. The flavor of the shrimp the seasoning was good but the shrimp flavor itself wasn't my favorite if that makes sense. Service was great and we definitely would be down to have a meal here again. No pictures because inside the lighting is dim so the pictures came out making the sandwich look unappealing which it is not!

This place is more than just a great local place to eat and have a drink at. It's a top tier establishment made by the food gods to let mortal men and women know where the real food is at in Lake Charles. All jokes aside this is one of the best places I've ever eaten in the great state of Louisiana. Anyone that walks in its doors shouldn't have a problem in finding something great to eat and drink. Down to earth staff and excellent customer service is why I will keep coming back here as much as possible while I'm here working in Lake Charles. I look forward to spreading the word to all the people I come across about this excellent gem of a place. The people of lake Charles are very lucky to have this nearby. Take advantage of it!!!

Came from HTX & had to make a quick stop at Darrell's. Got the 12 inch Darrell's Special & my husband ordered the BBQ Darrell's. I'm ashamed to say, as a little woman I ate the entire sandwich in one setting WITH a bag of Spicy Dill Pickle chips. The service was fast and friendly. Darrell's is an LC gem!

Visiting Lake Charles you need to stop by Darrel's for a quick po boy. Well, it does get crowded so it is not as quick as you think. But don't let that deter you it's worth the visit. Are friends had bragged for years and they stopped there every time they went up to Lake Charles, so ultimately we made the visit this weekend. The menu is very simple only four types of Po-boy sandwiches, what bag of chips and soda our adult drinks (beer...). During our visit, I had the surf and turf and it was delicious. The sandwich had the jalapeno mayo and the gravy... yummy! my wife had the turkey /ham with the gravy on the side which btw you can have if you want to control how much you want on it. Our friends had the Darrell special the hottest-selling. The tables are the typical diner and an abundance of beverage napkins to wipe the gravy off your face. Service is quick and the servers are very nice.

We saw all the reviews and thought we would give it a shot. I definitely give them four stars. Wasn't bad but wasn't the best in the world either. This had a lot of reviews but I think in my opinion it's kind of hyped up. My girl got the shrimp po boy. She thought it would be cooked lol. It wasn't. Down on. You gotta sell fried shrimp option. My roast beef one was good. It was very messy. I'm glad we stoped in and tried them. I would definitely stop in again but it don't that's fine too. I'm glad we tried it. They get really packed but the food comes out quick. Very limited simple menu. Great job and solid four stars for sure.
